Bologna FC were founded in 1909 and were one of the dominant forces in Italian football before World War II, winning seven Scudetti and the Mitropa Cup. The club enjoyed a golden era in the 1920s and 1930s and were known as "Lo Squadrone che Tremare il Mondo Fa" (The Team That Makes the World Tremble). After decades of decline, Bologna qualified for the Champions League in 2024 under Thiago Motta.
