Club History
Cagliari Calcio were founded in 1920 on the island of Sardinia and achieved their greatest triumph by winning the Serie A title in 1969-70, led by the legendary Luigi Riva. This remains one of the most romantic stories in Italian football as a club from the islands defeated the wealthy northern giants. Cagliari have spent much of their history moving between Serie A and Serie B but remain the pride of Sardinian football.
