Club History
1. FC Köln were founded in 1948 from the merger of two local clubs and quickly became one of West Germany's leading sides. The club won the Bundesliga's inaugural season in 1963-64 and added a second title in 1978. Cologne's Billy Goat mascot "Hennes" is one of the most famous mascots in world football. Despite spending time in the second division, the club retains one of the largest and most passionate fanbases in German football.
