Getafe CF were only founded in 1983 making them one of the youngest clubs in La Liga history. Based in the southern Madrid suburb of Getafe, the club remarkably rose through the Spanish football pyramid to reach La Liga in 2004. Under Jose Bordalas, Getafe developed a reputation for their ultra-competitive and physical style of play that frustrated opponents and earned them consistent top-half finishes.
