Club History

1. FC Heidenheim were founded in 1846 (as a gymnastics club) in the small Swabian city of Heidenheim an der Brenz. The football section was established later and the club spent decades in the amateur ranks. Frank Schmidt has managed the club since 2007, guiding them from the fourth division all the way to the Bundesliga in 2023 — one of the most remarkable managerial achievements in German football history.
