Club History
UD Las Palmas were founded in 1949 on the island of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. The club enjoyed their golden era in the 1960s and 1970s when they were a regular fixture in La Liga, producing several Spanish international players. Las Palmas face unique logistical challenges as the only La Liga club based in the Canary Islands, requiring lengthy flights to all away matches on mainland Spain. The club returned to La Liga in 2023 after a six-year absence.
