Club History
CD Leganes were founded in 1928 in the Madrid suburb of Leganes and spent decades as a lower-league club. Their remarkable rise through the divisions saw them reach La Liga for the first time in 2016, a stunning achievement for a club from a city of just 190,000 people. Leganes became known as the "Cucumber Growers" due to the historically agricultural nature of their region. Despite limited resources, the club has competed bravely in La Liga.
