Olympique Lyonnais were founded in 1950 and dominated French football in the 2000s, winning a record seven consecutive Ligue 1 titles from 2002 to 2008 under the presidency of Jean-Michel Aulas. This period of dominance is unmatched in French football history. Lyon also reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2010 and 2020. The modern Groupama Stadium, opened in 2016, is one of France's finest venues.
