Club History
Manchester City were founded in 1880 as St Mark's (West Gorton) and spent much of their history in the shadow of neighbours Manchester United, even dropping to the third tier in 1998. The Abu Dhabi United Group's takeover in 2008 transformed the club into a global superpower. Under Pep Guardiola, City achieved an unprecedented treble of Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup in 2022-23, cementing their status as one of the greatest club sides ever assembled. City have won six Premier League titles in seven seasons under Guardiola's guidance.
