FC Metz were founded in 1932 in the city of Metz in the Lorraine region of northeastern France, near the borders with Germany and Luxembourg. The club have been yo-yo club alternating between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 throughout their history. Metz won the Coupe de France twice and the Coupe de la Ligue twice, and have a loyal fanbase in the Lorraine region.
