Club History
FC Nantes were founded in 1943 and have been one of France's most successful clubs, winning eight Ligue 1 titles. The club's golden era came in the 1990s and early 2000s when they played a distinctive passing style known as "jeu a la nantaise" (the Nantes way). Marcel Desailly, Didier Deschamps, and Christian Karembeu all developed at Nantes. The club was deeply affected by the tragic death of Emiliano Sala in 2019.
