RC Strasbourg Alsace were founded in 1906 in the Alsatian capital of Strasbourg, a city that has alternated between French and German sovereignty throughout history. The club won the Ligue 1 title in 1979 and the Coupe de France three times. Strasbourg's unique Alsatian identity blends French and German football cultures.
