Club History
Tottenham Hotspur were founded in 1882 by a group of schoolboys and named after Harry Hotspur, the medieval knight. Spurs became the first club in the 20th century to achieve the league and FA Cup Double in 1961 under Bill Nicholson, and won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1963 — the first British club to win a European trophy. The club's modern era has seen them move to their spectacular new 62,850-capacity stadium in 2019. Under various managers, Tottenham have consistently competed for Champions League places but their last major trophy remains the 2008 League Cup.
