Club History
1. FC Union Berlin were founded in 1966 in East Berlin and became the people's club of East Germany, representing working-class identity in contrast to the state-backed BFC Dynamo. After reunification, Union spent decades in the lower divisions before earning promotion to the Bundesliga in 2019. The club's fans famously rebuilt the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei with their own hands, and Union sensationally qualified for the Champions League in 2023.
