Club History

VfL Wolfsburg were founded in 1945 in the city built around the Volkswagen car factory. The club spent decades in the lower divisions before joining the Bundesliga in 1997. Wolfsburg shocked German football by winning the Bundesliga title in 2008-09 under Felix Magath, powered by Grafite and Edin Dzeko. The club also won the DFB-Pokal in 2015 and has been a consistent presence in European competition.
